My mount came loose

The 3M VHB tape sticks as well as it is applied — any small mistake can affect adhesion. If your Go Moto mount comes loose, this is almost always caused by incorrect placement, insufficient cleaning, or not heating the adhesive enough. Please note that this is not covered by warranty, as mounts are designed to be secure when installed correctly.

A difference of just a few millimeters can make a mount tricky to place, and some models are especially sensitive. Perfect cleaning and proper heating of both the mount and the helmet are essential for a strong, lasting bond.

⚠️ New helmet? Brand new helmets often have a protective wax or release layer on the surface. This can prevent the adhesive from bonding properly. Make sure to scrub the helmet thoroughly with warm water and dish soap before cleaning with the 3M wipe — even if it looks clean.

Before proceeding, check your invoice or your account to make sure you have the correct mount for your helmet. We strongly recommend always having a spare adhesive kit on hand. You can purchase one by selecting your helmet and adding the spare adhesive kit to your cart.

How to fix a mount that came loose:

  1. Remove the old adhesive from the mount completely and do a dry test-fit on the helmet to find the perfect position. Check the product images and remember exactly where it sits right.
  2. Clean both the helmet and the mount thoroughly with warm water and dish soap — scrub well and make sure no residue remains. Do not touch the cleaned surfaces with your fingers afterwards.
  3. Heat the adhesive really well — the warmer the better.
  4. Apply the adhesive from side to side, keeping one edge slightly lifted with a finger so no air bubbles get trapped underneath.
  5. Once the adhesive is in place, press down as hard as you can — this is really important.
  6. Heat the adhesive again until it’s really warm, then place the mount on the helmet and push as hard as you can.
  7. Allow the mount to cure for at least 24 hours before attaching your camera or riding. The longer you wait, the stronger the bond.

💡 Always use the safety tether. We always recommend using the included safety tether as a backup. Even a perfectly installed mount can be affected by unexpected circumstances — the tether ensures your camera stays secured no matter what.

🌡️ Cold weather tip. Avoid installing the mount in cold conditions. The adhesive activates best at room temperature or warmer. If possible, install indoors and allow the mount to cure for at least 24 hours before use.
